Destination Devonport

Devonport has a rich history: the landing site of the Tainui canoe, maori settlements and the first european settlement in the Auckland region.  There is a rich connection to New Zealand's naval history, early ship building and busy maritime traditions.  It is also a community rich in artistic and creative arts, and active in ecological and peace campaigns.  A great selection of cafes and restaurants, retail shops, local movie theater, historic architecture and beautiful beaches are all on the doorstep.  Devonport is also a launching point for adventures on the islands of the Hauraki Gulf and a quick ferry ride to Auckland's central city and vibrant waterfront area.
